Do you know type 2 diabetes is 90% of the total patients? Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is the most common diabetes in the world, and the number of type 2 diabetics is increasing. Diabetes is a life-long chronic disease, and there is no way to fully recover from it. My thesis is to help people who are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes experience a more efficient treatment process.
I designed a system, which contains an APP, a wearable, and a pillbox. The system could help people with diabetes regulate their behavior, create a healthy lifestyle, and better follow doctor’s advice on treatments to maintain their blood glucose. Such an efficient process could lower the risk of getting complications, and make diabetics’ lives easier and happier.
RESEARCH- Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is a long-term disease, and there is no way to fully recover from it. Diabetes patients need to follow doctor’s order by taking their medicines on time, not consuming any sugar and exercising regularly to maintain their blood glucose levels. Diabetes begins insulin resistance, which means the cells response to insulin is not normal, with the possibly of becoming worse as the disease progresses. People with diabetes should be serious about diabetes since diabetes will get worse a time goes on, and there are so many complications that cause about diabetes and lot of people die because of it. If diabetics were serious all of their treatments, that will slow down the complications and prolong life span.
Types of diabetes mellitus
The major three types: Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, Gestational diabetes
Other types: Diabetes LADA, Diabetes MODY, Double diabetes, Type 3 diabetes, Steroid-induced diabetes, Brittle diabetes, Secondary diabetes, Juvenile diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is defined by the loss of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, which will lead to insulin deficiency. When it occurs, it usually affects people who are healthy or have a regular weight. During the early stages, while sensitivity and responsiveness are stable and standard, symptoms are readily noticeable.
Type 2 diabetes is involves by insulin resistance is the primary aspect. The most common type of diabetes mellitus is type 2diabetes. The main effect is the decrease in insulin sensitivity. Patient can control their high blood glucose by taking all kinds of medications. Type 2 diabetes is mainly caused by lifestyle choices and genetics factors.
Gestational diabetes is very similar to type 2 diabetes. It happens in pregnant women, although is might disappear after childbirth. It is entirely treatable.
